A roster of new dining and drinking options is coming to downtown Winnipeg as part of True North Square.
Winnipeg city council has given it’s blessing to a deal that would see Portage Place Shopping Centre sold.
Genine Franklin and her sister Paula co-own The Brick Cold Lake and when asked to expand to another store they wanted to bring one to Meadow Lake.
“They were asking us if we were going to open another franchise and they gave us a couple of locations and we said ‘No, we would rather go to Meadow Lake,’” Genine Franklin said. “We’re already delivering there regularly and we really enjoy the community.”
Premier Brian Pallister says downtown safety in Winnipeg must be addressed considering even a man of his height gets into confrontations when he tries to shop on Portage Avenue.
"I'm six-foot-eight and I like to go to Mountain Equipment Co-op," Manitoba's premier told reporters during a media availability on Thursday.
"I can tell you I've had confrontational situations, as a six-foot-eight man, in that area and that's an indication of how other people might be treated, an indication of what we have to address.
Tammy Bernier knew a man who entered Impeccable Jewellery in Duncan on Vancouver Island on July 16 was up to no good when he wouldn’t make eye contact with her.
