After WWII the Cold War soon began. This was due to the tensions between the US and the Soviet Union. This was a very important war because it introduced the hydrogen bomb because it was a devastating weapon. I find this interesting because it involves the space race.
In 1929 the stock market crashed causing huge unemployment rates. This was due to the decrease in spending due to the crash leading to less factories producing goods leading to people being fired. I think this is important and interesting because it was a massive set back to America but we came back from it.
In 1913 Henry Ford built the very first assembly line in the automobile industry. This is very important because this made cars much more affordable bringing cars into the common life style. I like this because I go to greenfield village and the Henry Ford museum a lot and like going there.
Although plans for a Canal have existed since the 1800s the beginning of the successful construction began in 1901 when the USA gained the land and in 1902 when we chose the construction location. This is very important because it allowed much easier transition of goods around the world by boat. I liked this because it was a major construction achievement for the USA.
The Model T was one of the first affordable cars for the average America. Thanks to this the concept of cars being a good transportation method was brought into light. This is very important because cars are very essential to society currently and I like them because I love going to Greenville Village and Henry Ford Museum.
In 1900 the discovery of natural radioactive decay was made being one of the first major discoveries relating to nuclear weaponry. This eventually led to the creation of the uranium and plutonium bombs that ended WWII. This is very important because this also led to the Cold War and the use of nuclear energy which is still in use today and this technology got me interested in science a lot.
Durring WWI many new technological innovations were made which still affect use to this day. Although some less common in a average life like tanks, gas weapons and planes with guns, more common innovations were smaller x-ray machines and even napkins. This is important because as many know WWII was kinda a big deal and technology played a huge part in the war and I like this stuff because it utilized at the time cutting edge science or even just some smart repurposing.
The first ever silent movie to be produced was a groundbreaking piece of work at the time. Created by a former camera man of Thomas Edison, the film used some of the newest camera techniques of the time. Some of these were pan-shots, split screen action and minor camera movements. This film also had a large impact on later western films because it created some of the cliches like shooting at the floor to make somone dance and even throwing a guy off a train. I find this important and intriguing because it started some of of the western cliches and it used amazing technology.
The Wright brothers were some of the greatest areospace engineers in history. One of there most amazing achievements was in 1903 when they achieved the worst ever powered flight. The invention of these vehicles helped commonize the current airplanes we use everywhere and without this we may not have planes. I like this because it shows some of the greatest innovations possible by humans at the time.
The Russian Revolution may have begun in 1887 but in 1917 the czar was disposed of and the Bolsheviks were put into power leading to the Soviet Union. This is very important because eventually the Soviet Union is are enemies in the Cold War. I find this intriguing because of the idea of nuclear weapons and war eventually due to the creation of the Soviet Union and are later conflicts.
