The change in educations system have caused students to lack behind others and thus are over-aged for their knowledge. The change in education language and system does not only needs the students to learn a new language, but also caused them to learn at different academic level from the British ones. Their family also was financially challenged as they have to pay up the fees but they are just recovering from the Japanese Occupation when trade and business are not stable. The families are also recovering psychologically as many have lost family members, because of wars and the Sook Ching. Because of the change in language, for the students who started their education just before the Japanese Occupation, it would be harder for them to adapt as they could not fully understand both languages and are forced to adapt to and fro.
