Such is life in the untamed terrain of executive coaching. Like the Wild West of yesteryear, this frontier is chaotic, largely unexplored, and fraught with risk, yet immensely promising. Reliable information about executive coaching is scarce, mainly because major companies did not use coaching much before the 1980s.

Meanwhile, companies that use coaches to help their top executives become more effective must chart their own courses. No one has yet demonstrated conclusively what makes an executive coach qualified or what makes one approach to executive coaching better than another. Barriers to entry are nonexistent—many self-styled executive coaches know little about business, and some know little about coaching.

Professional coaching helped Judy get aligned with her core values. Like and share if coaching has made a difference in your life! Judy Clark of Provincial Health Services Authority was introduced to coaching through her vice president at the time, who was an advocate for coaching and had a coach herself. When her VP suggested coaching, Judy resisted. She believed coaching was reserved for people who were deficient or struggling in some way. As a high performer in her role, Judy hardly fit that description. Judy began working with ICF Credentialed Coach Suzanne Ricard-Greenway, PCC. Suzanne is an executive coach and leadership coach based out of Vancouver. Coaching gave Judy an opportunity for self-reflection and development that she didn't even know she needed. Because of #coaching, Judy was able to become more aligned with her values, invest in her own self-care, and become inspired to take on a new, even larger role in her organization. #ExperienceCoaching for yourself!
