“It is with a very heavy heart that I announce some sad news today. I just found out 20 minutes ago, that my dear friend, mentor that kept me going, and fellow THRA Canada advocate/ co-founder, Ray Yeates. He passed away on Sunday, Oct. 23rd, 2022 morning. Ray had fought illness for a long time, but he swore it was because he vaped that he lasted as long as he did. Eight years ago, he was given 6 months to live, Ray, God bless him, lasted longer than that 6 months, he lasted 8 years all thanks to switching to vaping. I have many people to thank for being kind to Ray, Kevin Crowley (Mr. Cranky Jr), and Aaron Biebert who interviewed Ray a few times. Thank you both, along with many members of INNCO for role in Ray's life. So people who come to mind, are Nancy Loucas , Robert Innes Andy Morrison , to name a few. Forgive me if I am quiet for a while. This comes as a shock to me, even though I knew Ray was not well. He had been struggling a lot the past few months. Thank you Ray Yeates for the courage you gave me to carry on and keep up the good fight for those Billion Lives that did matter. Never forget the smoker, was always Ray's words. Thank you Ray for the good fight for those billion lives. We love you and we miss you. RIP dear friend and mentor.“ ~ Ivanna J. Awrey

It's always a pleasure to greet you. INNCO mourns the passing of Mr. Ray Yeates. Our hearts go out to his family, the Canadian community, and advocates worldwide. Thank you very much, Mr. Yeates, for your hard work toward public health and harm reduction.
