Monthly E-Newsletter of the Embassy of India in Thimphu: December 2020
31 December 2020
Dear Reader,
We are delighted to present the fifth edition of the monthly e-newsletter of the Embassy of India in Thimphu!
December was indeed special! Bhutan celebrated its 113th National Day. Rashtrapati ji and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended their good wishes on this occasion to His Majesty and Prime Minister Lotay Tshering. The External Affairs Minister of India Dr. S. Jaishankar conveyed his greetings on this joyous occasion through a public tweet.
Moving on. The Government of India opened additional trade routes, two of which were riverine, on the request of the Royal Government, that will bolster connectivities between our countries. On another note, though not entirely unconnected, four young and promising space engineers from Bhutan left for ISRO, Bengaluru as our two countries collaborate on Bhutan’s satellite, in keeping with the high vision of His Majesty The King of Bhutan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Connectivity of another kind!
As Bhutan locked down towards the third week of December, we extend our fullest support and stand in complete solidarity with the Government and people, praying for an early return to normalcy in the country.
Finally, the New Year! May all of you be blessed with the best that the new year can offer.
Tashi Delek! Jai Hind!
Ruchira Kamboj,
