The month of November 2024 saw a significant milestone in India-Bhutan relations with the inauguration of the new Immigration Check Post (ICP) for third country nationals at Darranga, Assam which was attended by PM of Bhutan, Governor of Assam, and other senior dignitaries from India and Bhutan (Press Release).
In the Judicial sector, 34 Judges and Judicial officers from Bhutan attended a training program at the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal. Aum Tashi Pem, Chairperson of RCSC Bhutan visited the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), and met with the Director, LBSNAA. They exchanged views and ideas on strengthening institutional framework between India and Bhutan in the field of Public policy and training of civil servants. ‘Bhutan Day’ was celebrated at LBSNAA through vibrant display of Bhutanese dances & musical performances, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Bhutan.
Embassy celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Constitution Day and reaffirmed the commitment to the principles enshrined in the Indian Constitution. The Indian diaspora in Thimphu came together to mark the celebration and attended a documentary screening on the making of Indian constitution.
Honoring the role of Indian diaspora, members of Indian diaspora joined the Embassy officials to witness the virtual launch of the website of 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) 2025.
Nehru Wangchuck Culture Centre, Thimphu hosted the Samvad Series session on the ‘Thirteen Traditional Arts of Bhutan’ which was presented by Sonam Choki from the Choki Traditional Art School; and an Aarogya series talk on “Health & Hygiene" highlighting the benefits of Yoga and Ayurveda. A discussion with Ms Tsedon Dorji, MD, BBS Channel 3, highlighting the channels role in education was presented under the Kalautsav Series.

In a testament to enduring partnership and cooperation between India-Bhutan, a new Immigration Check Post (ICP) for third country nationals was inaugurated in Darranga, Assam.
Lyonchen Tshering Tobgay, PM of Bhutan, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor of Assam, Shri Bandi Sanjay Kumar, MoS Home Affairs, Shri Pabitra Margherita, MoS MEA, Amb Sudhakar Dalela and other senior dignitaries attended the inauguration.
The ICP at Darranga, Assam will help bolster connectivity, enhance tourism, and deepen people-to-people ties between India and Bhutan.
Amb Sudhakar Dalela called on Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Hon’ble Governor of Assam in Guwahati and briefed him on different facets of India-Bhutan partnership.

The National Judicial Academy, Bhopal, hosted a training programme for 34 Judges and Judicial officers from Bhutan between 11-15 November 2024.
This follows the renewal of MoU on "Cooperation in Judicial education and mutual exchanges" between National Judicial Academy, Bhopal and Bhutan National Legal Institute which was renewed during the visit of Chief Justice of India to Bhutan.
During the training program at the National Judicial Academy in Bhopal, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of Law & Justice, GoI addressed the participants and interacted with them.
The Embassy team led by Amb Sudhakar Dalela joined the Nation in reading the Preamble to the Constitution of India to mark the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India.
The Embassy commemorated the Constitution Day 2024 in Thimphu, with the screening of a documentary on the making of the constitution, and a photo exhibition. The Embassy team was joined by members of the diaspora to mark the event.
Aum Tashi Pem, Chairperson, RCSC met and interacted with Shri Sriram Taranikanti, Director, LBSNAA to explore deeper institutional collaboration between India-Bhutan focusing on capacity building and leadership development. They also discussed on how civil servants can benefit from bilateral exchanges of faculty and sharing of training modules.
Aum Tashi Pem, Chairperson, Royal Civil Service Commission, Bhutan delivered an insightful address to Officer Trainees undergoing the 99th Foundation Course at LBSNAA. She shared her expertise in fostering foster cross-border learning for valuable exchange of ideas. She also emphasised the importance of sustainable development and environmental conservation.
The Officer Trainees of 99th Foundation Course celebrated ‘Bhutan Day’ on 21st November. The special event featured cultural performances and allowed OTs to savour & experience Bhutan's rich heritage & traditions.
Presently, 11 OTs from the Royal Bhutan Civil Service, Royal Bhutan Forest Service, & the Royal Bhutan Police Service are part of the ongoing 99th Foundation Course.
NWCC, Thimphu awarded certificates of completion to students who have been attending music classes under the guidance of NWCC music teacher, Dr Vivek Karmahe.

NWCC, Thimphu hosted a dialogue on “ Health & Hygiene". Dr. Pandup Tshering, Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan, and Yoga master Dr. Vijay Singh shared valuable insights on the benefits of hygiene in Ayurveda.
NWCC, Thimphu hosted a conversation with Ms Tsedon Dorji, MD, BBS Channel 3, under the Kalautsav Series. The conversation gave a fascinating history on the evolution of the BBS Channel 3, which aims to promote learning across all age groups in Bhutan. The channel has now reached more than 114,000 households in Bhutan.
