This song was written by Cathrine Fisher. The song was in her novel incarceron. Her book was about a dystopia and it thoroughly explained the treacherous world some people lived in. The song was something people could sing with a catchy tune but at the same time be reminded of big brother. In Harrison Bergeron, when he over comes his handicaps and goes on tv, he says, “crippled, hobbled, sickened, - I am a greater ruler than any man who ever lived!” Soon after, the handicap general comes on tv and kills Harrison. In the song I have posted, at the end there are two lines that say, “beware the man, you think you know”. Harrison thought he overcame the government and was stronger than anything but he was very incorrect. The government is so controlling with their physical handicaps on humans to control them, it’s the way they keep eyes on their people at all times. Just like how doors have eyes. It is important to pay attention to these dystopian elements because it shows how the government controls the citizens.
