At the ending of the novel Gene is talking to Brinker's dad about Finny. He says how in friendships you have to accept the things you can't change. In this case, it was Finny not wanting to grow up. Gene finally learns to accept himself and not compare himself to Finny. He also learns to accept Finny for who he is.
In the Birmingham Jail letter MLK talks about the issues of segregation and racial terror in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963. He says, “Anyone who lives inside the US can never be considered an outsider anywhere in the country." Racism was and still is an ongoing problem in our society today. We need to learn to accept people no matter where they came from and not judge based on what religion they are or how they dress.
This song really shows the idea of acceptance towards sexuality. The rapper talks about his struggles with sexuality when he was younger. He says, "When I was in the 3rd grade I thought that I was gay 'cause I could draw..." He says how he thought he was gay when he was little because he was artistic. He also talks about how our society is becoming more accepting toward the LGBTQ community. It's never okay to assume things about someone based on who they're attracted to.
The song Firework by Katy Perry is about showing the real you to the world. Not being scared of what people will say or think about you. Not letting your flaws stop you from living your life. She understands that everyone has differences and that it's okay to show them. She wants people to be how they truly are no matter how crazy or weird.
The movie, The Vow, is about a couple that gets into a car accident and the wife loses her memory. She doesn't remember her husband or anything. He however stays there by her side to help her regain her memory. He finds is frustrating at first but he learns to adjust because he loves her and he knows she's struggling.
In the movie, Finding Nemo, Nemo has a small fin which effects his swimming. However, he defies the odds and goes on a big adventure to get home. Another character, Dory, has short term memory loss, but that doesn't stop her from helping Marlin find his son, Nemo. Both of these characters have a "flaw" but that doesn't stop their journey across the ocean.

All though they are little, they work hard to overcome their challenges.
The show, I Am Jazz, follows a young transgender girl named Jazz Jennings. She goes through typical teen drama and on top of that she deals with her transition. Throughout the show you see the difficulties of being transgender in today's society. Though times are tough her family is there to support her throughout her journey.
