I was born and raised in the bay area. My dad was a pastor in Vallejo for about 19 years and when I was 19 he accepted a job here in the Central Valley and we picked up and moved!
I have always felt a call to ministry, but as a pastor's kid I went through a time when I felt like I wanted to do anything but ministry. God brought me back to my calling in the craziest way! I married a youth pastor.... I have served as a children's church teacher since I was a teenager, and in 2014 me and my husband took the job as youth leaders in Farmersville. (Where my dad is the Senior pastor)
I had always wanted to go to a Christian college and my eyes were set on Welch College in Nashville, TN. When my family moved to the central valley I put off going to college to help with the adjustment. In 2012 I finally went and studies Early Childhood Education. I met my husband (who is from North Carolina) and two years later we were married and moving back to the central valley for the youth pastor job he had accepted.
In 2014 I transferred to Fresno Pacific University so that I could continue my schooling after me and my husband moved. Since then, I have received my Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts and I have one semester left before I complete the multiple subject teaching program.
I am obsessed with crafting! I am not the best at it, but when I am stressed and need to unwind I search Pinterest for craft ideas and try to do one. My favorite crafts are with Mason jars, because my son's name is Mason and that is my happy place!
One of my favorite things to do in my spare time is watch movies! It is so relaxing! Especially with the new lounge chairs...
My greatest thrill has been the birth of my son Mason. He was born February 3rd, 2017. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me. My plan was to wait to finish school before trying for kids... Then I was diagnosed with a medical condition that required us to start trying ways sooner than we anticipated... I thank God everyday! If I had stuck to my plan and not God's I wouldn't have my sweet, funny, crazy kiddo.
My all time favorite books and movies is the Harry Potter series.
I have wanted to teach since I was very little! I wanted to be a teacher like Laura Wilder (little house on the prairie) and like my mom. I would teach to my dolls and friends... I wanted to teach kids and help students who really needed it. When I saw this ted talks on GRIT it was the exact reason I want to teach!
If I was not going to be a teacher I would want to be a children's counselor. My main passion in life is helping kids. I have always had the gift of listening... I go somewhere and a stranger will just randomly tell me everything going on in their life. My family jokes and say I have "therapist" written across my forehead.
One word to describe me would be empathetic. It is a gift and a flaw... I feel things a little too much and sometimes let it consume me.... but it makes me a great friend to people in need. Definition: Empathetic definition, of, relating to, or characterized by empathy, the psychological identification with the feelings, thoughts, or attitudes of others: a sensitive, empathetic school counselor.
