Held in 1999, Super Bowl XXXIII would give the Falcons a chance for a trophy, but one team stood in there way and it was the Denver Broncos. The Broncos had retiring quarterback John Elway and the Falcons former coach Dan Reeves, and they were not easy to beat. In the first half the Falcons had only scored six points with the score 17-6 at half time. After halftime the Falcons began losing even more with the score 31-6. The Falcons then scored 2 touchdowns before the final being 31-14.
In 1992 the Atlanta Falcons would move stadiums. The Flowery Branch stadium wasn't cut out to handle easy because of the torn seats and awful grass. The Falcons upgraded and moved to the brand new Georgia Dome. The season that was held in the Georgia Dome wasn't expected. The Falcons ended the season with 6 wins and 10 loses. The dome would stay home to the falcons from 1992-2016.
In Atlanta's 1980 season the Falcons were 3-3. The team would then win the next nine games with a record of 12-3. The quarterback, Steve Bartkowski had a record of passing 3,544 yards with 31 touchdown passes!!! The Falcons then would win their first ever division championship. The falcons would go home in the playoffs losing to the Dallas Cowboys 30-27. In the article it states,"the Cowboys would score 20 points to stun the Falcons 30-27," (1980 Atlanta Falcons season). The season was the best season played so far for the Falcons.
The Atlanta Falcons made their debut in the year 1965. The owner of the team, Rakin Smith hired the Falcons first ever coach, Norb Hecker. The falcons then would play their first preseason game on August, 1, 1966, against the Philadelphia eagles. The Falcons took a hard loss against the Eagles. The article states that, "their first preseason game on August 1, 1966, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles", (Early Struggles). The falcons would lose the next 8 games, but ended up defeating the New York Giants in the first game of the regular season. The falcons finished up the season with a 3-11 record.
