Evidence: Acording to the article a gorilla named Binti-Jua, a gorilla from the Brookfeild zoo, went out of her way to save a little boys life after he fell 24 feet into the enclosure. She held him in her arms and looked up at everyone then some of the other gorillas came over acting like they might hurt the child, but she scared the other gorillas away so they would not hurt him. Analysis: This show she is a hero because she did not only surprise everyone by not hurting the child, but she also scared off the other gorillas. The others could of been hurt but she went out of her way to protect him. Also it not being vary common that an animal will save a human, but people think that she was treating the child like it was her own since she was a mother.
When Binti saved the boy she cradled him and brought him over to one of the doors that the zoo workers would enter through. It was like she new this child needed help and that people could help him. People think that she may have helped the child because she was abandoned by her mother and raised by humans. They also thought it was because she was a mother. Then as they watched in horror they realized she was confurting the child and carrying him towards the door that workers could get to. They got down there as fast as they could and escorted him to the hospital. The child was conscious while the ride to the hospital. They say that he was in critical condition. Binti Jua was probably the only reason he was still alive. Once the declaird that he was going to live they gave Binti the title hero of the year.
Binti was not only a hero but she also was a mother. She would play, feed, and clean her child Bakari. She was abandoned by her own mother and seems to be a great one herself. She plays with her child like most human mothers would. She is her child's hero and role model. She also had a child named Koola who she also took care of as a new mother, so when she had Bakari was born she was an even better one.
