A I started to watch the video it had powerful woman that helped make America what it is today. But when I read the lyrics it talks about how ladies should be put first because man can live without us and how we are the birth giver. They also talk about how a woman can take care of herself with no ones help. One thing I continuously see they rap about is how a woman can be whatever she wants to be even a rapper and men should just stop saying woman can not rap.
The Color Purple is a novel that takes place in 1982 where a black woman was basically her "husband" would raped and make her over work in the field.Thats's unfair why would you make a woman go though slavery but her master is black that crazy. The author of the book Alice Walker said that her grandmother was forced to marry a man and that's what made her write the book.
Black woman and their hair had to go though so much, it had it's ups that being in the 60's the time black grow their hair out to show power, pride, and so many other things, but there was downs too.Like times when they had to cut off their if a white woman did not like it,🙄.They even had a law called the Tignon Law where black woman HAD to have their hair tied down to not be seen. How dared they make that law.But the joke is on them all those times you had us blacks wear wigs to fit in or braid our hair to put our head tie on we had braids in, that's protective styling which makes our hair stronger and longer.
Kenyatta A.C. Hinkle created these 100 drawings for every black woman that went missing in the United States ,that people did not even care about. The art tells a story of loss a story that no one will understand if they don't open their eyes. When I read an article on the art it was a weds site it took me to, call www.blackandmissinginc.com . Where most colored people who went missing is filed. Finally someone is noticing that colored woman really go missing everyday and that's a problem the world needs to help solve.
This poem is about how a woman can be phenomenal and the different ways that she is. "Men themselves have wondered What they see in me."That it is not about her body shape or what she wears it is about what's is on the inside and that is why men will SECRETLY love you so don't worry about your skin or you thick lips.
Sweetness is a short story about a woman and her boyfriend who are both light skin, so light that they were treated like white people no one could tell they were black. Their world changed when they had a dark skin baby. They both gave up on the baby in different ways. The father never ever held or even touched the baby because the baby was too black or as she said "she turned blue-black right before my eyes." As the mother her job was to love that baby no matter what.If she had down syndrome, was missing a her jaw or was even a fish but she didn't .She didn't because she felt that the baby would change who people would treat her they would know that she is a BLACK woman.Lula Ann was the baby name, the mother said "I know I went crazy for a minute, because—just for a few seconds—I held a blanket over her face and pressed." She tried to kill the baby before she had a life but that would of been better for Lula Ann, all her life she was inside when most kids was out she learned how to walk if a white person or kids was on the same sidewalk, she could not even call her mother mom or mama she called her Sweetness because it was better for when they were outside together. But Lula Ann grown up to get a good life with a good job and sent her mom or Sweetness money as a sign her her to stay away, Sweetness started to feel her when Lula Ann never gave her that mother daughter love.Lula Ann later learned that her skin was the best thing about her.
