Black woman and their hair had to go though so much, it had it's ups that being in the 60's the time black grow their hair out to show power, pride, and so many other things, but there was downs too.Like times when they had to cut off their if a white woman did not like it,🙄.They even had a law called the Tignon Law where black woman HAD to have their hair tied down to not be seen.How dared they make that law.But the joke is on them all those times you had us blacks wear wigs to fit in or braid our hair to put our head tie on we had braids in, that's protective styling which makes our hair stronger and longer.

Sweetness is a short story about a woman and her boyfriend who are both light skin, so light that they were treated like white people no one could tell they were black. Their world changed when they had a dark skin baby. They both gave up on the baby in different ways.The father never ever held or even touched the baby because the baby was too black or as she said "she turned blue-black right before my eyes." As the mother her job was to love that baby no matter what.If she had down syndrome, was missing a her jaw or was even a fish but she didn't .She didn't because she felt that the baby would change who people would treat her they would know that she is a BLACK woman.Lula Ann was the baby name, the mother said "I know I went crazy for a minute, because—just for a few seconds—I held a blanket over her face and pressed." She tried to kill the baby before she had a life but that would of been better for Lula Ann, all her life she was inside when most kids was out she learned how to walk if a white person or kids was on the same sidewalk, she could not even call her mother mom or mama she called her Sweetness because it was better for when they were outside together.But Lula Ann grown up to get a good life with a good job and sent her mom or Sweetness money as a sign her her to stay away, Sweetness started to feel her when Lula Ann never gave her that mother daughter love.Lula Ann later learned that her skin was the best thing about her.
