Vladimir Lenin was the man who was responsible for leading one of the most ruthless political parties in recent history. The bolsheviks were responsible for rising up, dividing, and conquering Russia to transform it into the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). Before Lenin could start to overthrow the government, he was exiled twice, jailed twice, and deemed as an agent for Germany. In his youth, he witnessed his brother be killed by the government under the rule of a czar, and began to study law and politics. After later becoming an advocate for politics, Lenin had to make a decision to abandon his beliefs or overpower those who were against him, and he chose to overpower those who were against him via robberies, revolts, murder, and intimidation. When the civil war between bolsheviks and those against bolsheviks ended, Lenin emerged as the clear victor; however, he died only 4 years later in the year 1924. Lenin left behind a legacy of how to overthrow your government and how to become a more dominant political party. Even though his name can be associated with a ton of negativity, he died after he accomplished his life work. This reminds me of how Jim Casey died as a symbol of Jesus Christ and as a result, was a scapegoat for the greater good. Jim Casy's sacrifice to not only go to jail, but to die fighting for the rights of those affected by the migration of farmers, shows his willingness to sacrifice himself for the purpose of changing the world.
We all say that communism was a bad idea but truly, I believe communism was not as bad as it seemed; the governments that tried it just were not ready for the movement and corrupted the idea. During WWI, Russia was fighting its own war within itself. The country wasn't stable enough to support an ongoing conflict in the world and as result, ended up loosing the most soldiers ever recorded in history. Unfortunately, Russia's misery didn't end there; as soon as the war ended, Russia entered a civil war.
