This article included a lot of information , it defined what racism is:"The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.” Secondly, racism is, “Discrimination or prejudice based on race." Then, it argued that minorities can not be racist because the minorities are more likely to understand the whites as a superior race and even though they may do some prejudice actions against the whites, they lack the institutional power to effect their life so these actions are only defined as prejudice or ignorant actions instead of racism. ***Nittle, Nadra Kareem. “How to Understand What Racism Is.” ThoughtCo, ThoughtCo, www.thoughtco.com/what-is-racism-2834955.
This article stated that everyone can be racist and defined racism in its own way:"belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to other races." They believe that a race don't have to be superior to be racist. This article also argued with the opinion that racism equal to power plus prejudice, people often think that people can be racist only if they have power, but doesn't the minorities have power? "Furthermore, while in the United States whites may have more power than minorities, it is obvious that whites do not control all levers of power. A black man is in the Oval Office, two minorities are serving on the Supreme Court, and roughly one fifth of Fortune 500 CEOs are members of racial minority groups." This article argues that not only the majorities can be racist because the minorities control some power and it is more than enough for them to be racist. ***Johnson, Adam. “Everyone Can Be Racist.” Stanford Daily, www.stanforddaily.com/2013/01/31/everyone-can-be-racist/.
This article stated that minorities can not be racist. The author thinks that in order to be racist, a race have to be superior to others and minorities are definitely not the superior race. However, bigotry and ignorance do exist in minority races and have definitely been practiced and have done to the majority race, which is considered superior. The author encourages to stop racism at the end of the article and suggest that the minority race should direct our anger to racism but not racist people. The author's opinion is that the minorities can not be racist because they are not a superior race and they don't get benefits from it but he does admit that some ignorant actions have been down from the minorities to the majorities. ***Everett, Mikala. “Black People Cannot Be Racist, and Here's Why.” The University Star, 25 Oct. 2016, star.txstate.edu/2016/02/black-people-cannot-be-racist-and-heres-why/.
The author of this article, Zaba Blay, states that racism of minorities do not exist because the minorities are the ones that often getting treated unfairly and she thinks that people just mixed up racism with some other aspects of racism such as prejudice or ignorance, she thinks that sometimes people take this kind of issues too seriously that even a small ignorant action would be considered racist. She thinks that ignorance and prejudice do exist in minorities but it is based on self-protection and real racism is far more complex than that. She defined racism in the article"At its core, racism is a system in which a dominant race benefits off the oppression of others — whether they want to or not." We can see that she disagree with the existence of reverse racism or racism of minorities because they don't benefit from it. ***Blay, Zeba. “4 'Reverse Racism' Myths That Need To Stop.” The Huffington Post, TheHuffingtonPost.com, 6 June 2017, www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/reverse-racism-isnt-a-thing_us_55d60a91e4b07addcb45da97.
This article simply talks about a serious of discussions based on a Facebook post of a 27 year old college student, Bahar Mustafa, she said that men and white people may not attend a meeting. She defended herself by saying that she wasn't and couldn't be racist because she is from an ethnic minority. Emma commented "This is the problem with racism, certain individuals assume it can only be racism if it is against the minority! What difference does it make if she is in fact from a minority? The statement made by the individual is 'racist' to the majority of the United Kingdom." majority of people have similar opinion as Emma and stated that Bahar Mustafa was racist and racism does exist even in ethnic minority groups. ***“'I Can't Be Racist If I'm from an Ethnic Minority'. Ariel Pontes, the author of this article states that minorities can be racist but just not as bad, he defines the racism of minorities as reverse racism. He also listed examples of racist actions from both the minorities and the majorities, he also explains why people look at these issues differently even though the situation is just as bad. "Humans are a highly social species and tribalism, hierarchy and domination are hardwired in our brains. It is only natural that belonging to a subjugated group and being bullied by the dominant one should elicit a deeper and more revolting emotion than the one felt when a member of a dominant group is harassed by a low-ranking peer." His view points are pretty clear that racism exists in all races but people have different opinions because they look at each specific issue differently. ***Pontes, Ariel. “Can Minorities Be Racist? – Humanist Voices – Medium.” Medium, Augmenting Humanity, 15 Jan. 2017, medium.com/humanist-voices/can-minorities-be-racist-a9ff8c7bc102.
