If you're one of the many people who wear glasses, you may not give much thought to all the work that went into helping you see clearly. There are several steps to turn a $10 hunk of clear glass — about the size of a hockey puck — into a finely crafted lens. SYDNEY, N.S. — There could be containers on the Sydney waterfront sooner than you may think. Any potential container terminal development is still far from a reality but some repurposed shipping containers could be located along the waterfront as early as this summer. Due to increasing interest from entrepreneurs interested in setting up shop on the waterfront, particularly with construction of the second cruise ship berth due to begin, the Port of Sydney Development Corp. is looking at different options to provide commercial space. At the port’s annual general meeting last week, Dist. 10 Coun Darren Bruckschwaiger asked if there were more affordable options to attract business to the waterfront, even if they were more temporary.
The Ontario Convenience Stores Association (OCSA) is pleased to support the Government of Ontario's recent modernization of the Smoke-Free Ontario Act. The update will help ensure tobacco, e-cigarettes and other age-restricted product sales are regulated, balancing government and industry's shared public health objectives with convenience retailers' needs throughout Ontario. "We support Ontario's updated Smoke-Free Ontario Act and thank Minister Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, for the opportunity to provide input on behalf of convenience retailers," said Dave Bryans, CEO of the OCSA. "Being responsible community retailers is at the core of our members' businesses, and we believe the new Act advances how the sale of these products is regulated."
