Legal marijuana shops could boost nearby property values, study shows

While Ontario landlords are looking to ban marijuana use in their rental units and several municipalities don't want
legal cannabis stores in their neighbourhoods, experts and a U.S. study suggest that recreational pot could lift property values.

Property prices for homes in Denver near shops which converted from medical marijuana to recreational pot in 2014 saw values increase by 8.4 per cent, compared to those slightly further away, the study by professors based in Wisconsin, Georgia, and California found.

Solve a crime, win a Canada Goose parka

The owners of Wild Rock Outfitters hope posting surveillance footage images of three suspects who stole thousands of dollars' worth of clothing during an early-morning break-in earlier this month to social media this week will help solve the crime.

They've also provided added inventive for anyone who can provide information and said tipsters can remain anonymous, if they choose.

"We'd be happy to give them a parka of their choice," co-owner Scott Murison said Tuesday. "We'd love to see these people get caught."
