The Surprising Salaries of Top U.S. Government Officials

The Surprising Salaries of Top U.S. Government Officials

This article talked about the salaries of government officials and how they are set. It talked about how the president salary may not be changed during the presidents term in office. It was interesting to see how much the salaries are set at. This article didn’t really seem biased.
This is an example of congresses ability to set salaries in government. I think it is good that congress sets the salaries that way the president cannot change it so they make a ridiculous amount of money.

President Trump Appointed Four Times as Many Federal Appeals Judges as Obama in His First

President Trump Appointed Four Times as Many Federal Appeals Judges as Obama in His First

this article discusses the presidents ability to appoint federal judges. Sam of December 15, 2017, President Trump has appointed twelve so far. That is a new record. I think this article was biased to the left because of comments about how Trumps administration could not “make good” on legislative policies.
This is an example of the presidents ability to appoint judges. I think this is a good way for the president to have say without too much power as these judges have to be confirmed by other branches of government.

Trump sends signal with Broadcom veto

Trump sends signal with Broadcom veto

President Trump vetoed a Broadcom take over of Qualcomm. This was seen as a way to protect national security. National security is one of the presidents main focused and campaign promises. Officials have concerns about new generation networks such as 5G, which is highlighted by Trumps veto. This article seemed biased to the right.
This is a demonstration of the presidents ability to veto. I feel like this is an effective ability in checks and balances. It gives the president power but not spot much as his veto can be overturned.

Trump just got checked and balanced

Trump just got checked and balanced

This article discussed the current president, Donald Trump’s, first experiences with checks and balances. His immigration order was declare unconstitutional. Airlines had to adjust to the policy when it was put into effect and are now having to go back to how things were before it. While the travel ban was intended as a terrorism precaution, other government officials felt it threatened refugees from coming to the US. This article seemed a little biased toward the left.
This articles demonstrates the ability to declare a presidents executive order unconstitutional. The presidents power has been limited, or checked and balanced. I do find this effective because it is able to stop the president from doing things that do not agree with the constitution.
