The " Diary of Anne Frank" was written by Anne Frank during WW ll, it was her way of coping with the war, and a way to pass time while she was in hiding. I feel her diary fit the theme because she knew what was going on, but she always stayed positive and hopeful, till the end. Also she never took any moments for granted.
The poem "Growing Old" was written by Matthew Arnold. The poem is about not only the pains of getting old, but also the joys. I feel this poem fits the theme because the last few stanzas are about seeing things in a new perspective, and cherishing some of the moments from the past.
The movie " Lala Land" came out in 2016. The movie is about a love story between Mia (Emma Stone) and Sebastian (Ryan Gossling). Mia wants to be an actress, and Sebastian wants to be a musician. Mia and Sebastian both get what they want, but it costs them their relationship, as Mia went to Paris to be the star in a movie. I feel this fits the theme because they both took each other for granted when they were together, and when they see each other again years later, they realize what they lost.
The movie " It's a Wonderful life" was a film made in 1943. The movie is about a man (George) who is a banker for a living, his uncle is at the bank, and leaves some of the cash out. The bad banker comes, and steals the money. George gets really upset, and wishes he was never born. He was taken to a world where he was never born, and realized how much everybody needed him. I feel this movie fits the theme because he didn't appreciate what he had, until he lost it all.
The poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost was written in 1923, in New Hampshire. The poem is about how nothing lasts. The beginning of spring is beautiful, but winter comes and everything dies. The whole poem fits the theme because it is about how beautiful/exciting things come to an end.
In the short story "Goin' Fishin' " the theme is, cherish what you have because you may loose it. The song " Deathbed" by Relient K was written in 2007. The song is about a man who had a really hard life, and eventually got cancer. In the chorus he says " I can hear those sad memories, still haunting me, so many things I'd do again." I feel this fits the theme because his life was coming to an end, and he's filled with regret because his life wasn't the way he wanted it to be.
