Scientists already knew long ago that eating raw cookie dough can make you sick because of eggs but a recent discovery shows that flour is another cause of sickness in raw dough. The US discovery sickened 63 people from December 2015 to September 2016 and pinning down the tainted flour source was much more difficult than a usual food-poisoning find-out. Samuel Crowe did a series of investigations by asking 10 people who got sick what they had eaten before they got sick. Only 2 out of the 10 people he asked remembered eating raw cookie dough before getting sick and Crowe asked them to send him a picture of the flour that they used in the batter. Crowe found out that both of the flours he saw were produced in the same plant. In conclusion, not all flour causes food-poisoning, but some does so you should watch out and try to resist the yumminess of raw cookie dough.
