Fungi can also be deadly like this really bad Death Cap. Basically if you eat just one half of one of these mushrooms you will die.
Protists can actually be edible just like Fungi. Seaweed is probably the most common protist that is actually eaten by humans. It happens to be one of the most popular protists ever (even though most people don't know it is a protist)
Fungi aren't all that bad either. There are some really good tasting ones and then there are the ones that will kill you. The good tasting ones though make excellent stir fry and a great pizza topper to top.
In comparison to Eukaryotic cells you can see how different Prokaryotes are from Eukaryotes. Probably the biggest difference you may not be able to see is the fact that all the organelles are not membrane bound and that Prokaryotic cells don't have a nucleus.
Malaria is one of the many diseases caused by Protists. Malaria is caused specifically by the Plasmodium species of bacteria of which 4 or 5 can cause Malaria in Humans.
Protists reproduce asexually. Meaning that they self replicate instead of breading with other protists. They undergo a process similar to Mitosis which essentially makes an exact replica of the parent protist.
Protists travel by the use of Flagella.
Protists do a great many of things for the environment but possibly the most fascinating thing done by protists are the things done be red algae.
Amoeba and Protists usually eat other living creatures or cells.
There are actually a number of infections and diseases that are caused by Fungi. This picture is what a ringworm would look like which is a sort of Fungi. There are worse ones but I don't want to make anyone throw up.
Fungi can't really move on their own unless they are mushrooms. Fungi don't have flagella so they can't just decide they want to go somewhere else. They rely heavily on other creatures moving them around through contact and through other things coming into contact with them. Mushrooms are the only fungi that can really move but at the same time they can't really... The only thing that moves would be their spores which helps them to spread out.
The reproduction process of Fungi can either be sexual or asexual. Meaning they can either reproduce with other fungi or they can just make copies of themselves. It really just depends on the type of fungi.
Fungi are considered Decomposers. Their job is to get rid of dead animals, dead plants and other waste. They are like the garbage disposal of earth.
Fungi get their Nutrients through feeding on other creatures like trees. They are consider decomposers and mainly feed on dead creatures and plants.
All Protista and Fungi are Eukaryotic. They are all made up of Eukaryotic cells whether they are multicellular or unicellular.
