My family is the most important aspect of my life, and I truly don't know where I would be without them. I'm the youngest of five kids who are all much older than me. They are the first people I turn to when I need help or advice on almost any topic, whether they're school-related or personal problems.
For as long as I can remember, my sister and I had wanted a cat. However, our parents always said there was no way they were going to let one into the house. Fast forward to last October, when our wishes finally came true. We named her Kinnu because it means mandarin in Urdu, and she has orange patches all over her body.
This is Duke. He's my godson, and he's also my sisters' little corgi. She got him last May, and ever since then he has taken up a huge chunk of my heart. Duke is the sweetest boy, all he wants to do is give you his love and to play with you. Duke just loves everyone. I wish all animals were more like Duke.
When I was little my sister always told me that Harry Potter was for losers, so i never read or watched any of the parts. That was until grade two, I went to the movies and I fell in love with every aspect of the movie. When I got home I dug through my bookshelves and found the first book- I was hooked. Eight years later, I'm still a huge fan.
The first time I read The Perks of Being a Wallflower I was fourteen, sitting on the airplane taking me home from my vacation in England. Once I picked it up I could not put it down. The story really stuck with me because it showcases a lot of challenges that teenagers face in this phase of their lives. Soon after reading it I watched the movie, and it was just like the book. It was perfect.
J. Cole is probably my favourite rapper (or even just artist) right now, there is so much variety in his music and many of his lyrics resonate with me. In my opinion, he is one of the best rappers out there right now.
When I was in grade six I was obsessed with One Direction, just like every other girl I know. Zayn was always my favourite, and his solo work is music that I genuinely love. His songs have a mix of genres and his music just makes you feel good.
I haven't been working at Chuck E. Cheese for all that long, it's only been about two months. My friend Kendra got me the job and I was trained as a birthday party hostess. The majority of the people that work there I'm already really close with, and have known for quite a long time. Working becomes a lot more fun when you get along with the people you're around, and I think it's safe to say that we're all usually having a pretty good time.
There was a long period of time (about five years) when the only thing I wanted to be was a doctor. I could never even image working as anything but as a doctor. For a while I was unsure of what I want to do after I'm done high school, all I knew was that I still wanted to do something in health services. More recently, I've been looking into physiotherapy and that is what I see myself doing. It incorporates my love of sports with health services, and it just seems like something I would love doing.
Catching up on my favourite TV shows and watching new movies on Netflix is one of my favourite things to do. There really is nothing better than coming home after a long day, and laying in bed while watching a good movie. It really is the best thing.
Similar to my love for Netflix is my love for Youtube. There's such a wide variety of videos on the website, and ones that I love to watch are ones such as, makeup related, music, comedy, vlogs and so much more. Youtube also really comes in handy when I don't understand a topic that I'm learning in school.
Hockey is something that everyone in my family has always watched ever since my dad and his brothers moved to Canada back in the 70's. My brothers are much more into the sport than I am, but I still think it is a part of my identity, it's something we can bond over as a family.
Basketball is a sport that pretty much my whole family has a love for, whether it's watching games or actually playing. I love watching basketball and more than that, I love playing it. Everyone in my family is very particular about which teams they support, and there have been some heated debates over the years just about basketball teams. For me, my favourite team has always, always, always, been the Los Angeles Lakers.
