One of my favorite places to visit is Galaxyland and we usually go every year when family friends visit. Of all the years I've been there, I can proudly say I've been on the mindbender over 8 times, but each with regret after. I usually go on it with my brother and just getting strapped in makes me have a panic attack but for some reason I stay on. Halfway up I start praying in my mind and accepting a quick death. My head always flies down and it's so hard to keep it against the seat and afterwards I get back pain and neck pain but it's still so fun. One of the scariest times I've ever been on it is when my sister and I were going to go together but she ended up going with her husband and I had to go alone, and there was a random guy sitting next to me laughing the whole time and I was just crying on the inside. Another ride I can't believe I've been on so many times is the space shot, but I doubt I'll be going on there anytime soon.
Tim Hortons is probably my most visited when I'm craving a drink or something sweet. There's about 4 or 5 menu items that I always get, like an icecap with a shot of vanilla and whipped cream, toasted jalapeno bagel with herb and garlic cream cheese, potato wedges, and that's about it unless I'm with my family and we're getting donuts and timbits. I was excited for Roll Up The Rim but after last year I'm not so sure they really want anyone to win anything and it seems like a scam. I drank hot drinks in medium and large all the time and know others who did too and no one even got anything.
As you've probably already guessed, I love food. I don't often go to fancy restaurants as much as I do normal food places. My favorite by far is Turquaz Kebab house, it's mainly classic middle eastern dishes. I also love Swiss Donair and Primetime. One restaurant I've always had great memories in is Boston Pizza. I always go there with friends for birthdays and the hostess brings them a brownie piece and sings for them and they pretend to act embarrassed even though we planned it for days before. An old favorite of mine was The Old Spaghetti Factory. I used to love going there mainly for the mozzarella sticks but I haven't gone in years.
One of the most embarrassing moments in my life happened at Superstore, and I still look back and laugh at how dumb it was. I was grocery shopping with my 2 sisters and once we finished we went to the checkout line. Halfway through my other sister called and asked us to bring her some lettuce from the store, so I had to quickly run and grab some. I was speed-walking and I guess wearing some slippery shoes and there was some water on the ground but no sign next to it, and I slipped and fell so hard in front of everyone. That wasn't even the worst part but I apparently don't know how to act in situations like that because even though people tried to help me get up and see if I was okay I just got up and walked away not even acknowledging them.I kept walking to find the lettuce with tears running down my face and probably walking funny too from all the pain but it was apparently so important to me to continue getting the lettuce. In the end there wasn't even any lettuce there and I had to go back and my sisters were mad at me for not even getting any help but it was a good laugh. The workers who checked the security cameras that day probably enjoyed it too.
To be completely honest, I have more pet peeves than I'd like to admit, even without meaning to. There's just a lot of annoying things that people do. I could list all of them but it would just go on and on. One that really stands out is when people chew with their mouths open, and then suddenly feel the need to explain their whole life story at the same time. It's annoying when people only do things just so they relate to other people, like jumping on the bandwagon for sports and other big events. I hate people who suddenly change how they act just because there's someone there, or they're 2 faced. That's a short summary but I think you get the point!
Psychology is one of my favorite subjects in school, and in general. It's interesting to see how different disorders affect the brain and what causes them. I like finding out how everything is related and how a simple aspect can influence almost all parts of your life. One of my goals for the class is to be more comfortable speaking in front of people and stepping outside of my comfort zone. Hopefully it's easier to talk to new people and make friends.
Some of my favorite foods are classic middle eastern dishes. I love a variety of different foods like tabouleh(salad), falafel, kabob and shawarma, yabrak(grape leaves), and more. I also love deserts like baklava, kanafeh, qatayef, and halawet bil jibin. I love all food in general though, and i'm often always so hungry I could eat a horse.
One of my favorite sports to play is badminton. It was my favorite unit in gym and reminds me of the summer because we'd play at the tennis court all the time. Sometimes we would go out every night and play and even though I got millions of mosquito bites it was still a great memory with people I loved being around.
It's my first year at J.Percy Page, and also my first time living in the south-side. Moving here was hard because I had to leave behind alot of my friends and there's more distance between my sisters and I. I like J. Percy Page but I love my old school Queen Elizabeth high-school more, it's a bit smaller and I felt more comfortable there considering almost half of the school was Arab and Muslim, so it was easier to relate to everyone there. There was also more emphasis on religious holidays and cultural aspects and it made it more fun.
My father is from Afghanistan, and the culture is often a big part of my life. I speak the language(Farsi) and am involved in almost all aspects of it. I can't speak Farsi perfectly so it's a struggle sometimes talking to family friends and not understanding what they're saying so often I look kind of dumb just nodding my head to everything they say and hoping it wasn't a question.
I was born in Damascus, Syria and grew up there until we moved to Canada when I was 4 years old. Before the war it was such a beautiful place to visit, I hope to go back soon to see my family and relive old memories. Where I was born plays a large part in who I am, and I would never stray from my ethnic ties and culture.
Travelling and going on adventures are 2 of my favorite things to do, when I'm older I plan to travel as much as possible and explore the world and what it has to offer. I love making new memories and trying new things. I love visiting Banff and Jasper often, and exploring Calgary is always so fun.
I have a big family. Along with my mom and dad, I also have 5 sisters and 2 brothers. I also have 4 nieces and 3 nephews.
Literally all I do most of the time is watch tv shows, I've finished so many tv shows already and am currently watching 'how I met your mother'. Sometimes I start a tv show and halfway through I find a better one and start watching that one instead, so there's alot of shows I haven't bothered to finish yet.
At times I can be a shopaholic. I love buying new clothes and shoes, but I mostly prefer online shopping over in stores because you avoid having to go out and see everyone.
I love interior design and decorating spaces. I plan to get a diploma at Nait or the University of Alberta, and can't wait to start doing what I love. Growing up I always loved watching HGTV and always liked seeing homes and buildings come to life with design.
