In August of 2017, one of the most criticize lawman of America was pardon by President Trump. Joe Arpaio, a former Arizona's Maricopa county sheriff, who violated the terms of court order in a racial-profiling Latinos. This was Donald Trump's first-ever presidential pardon. Arpaio throughout his career has been controversial making national news more than any other sheriff in the nation. Arpaio was generally known to be brutal towards inmates and an obsession with immigration. He called himself "America's toughest sheriff." Building jails that look like tents and concentration camps; where inmates are suffering unacceptable hot temperatures in the summer, wearing pink underwear, and eating only two meals a day. Worst of all, as the sheriff he commands officers to check random cars for illegal immigrants. In the Grapes of Wrath, the Okies were treated cruel by residents of California, or other states that were not hit by the Dust Bowl, in order to scare them away. That did not stop the Okies from moving forward.

Residents will only be allowed to use 50 liters of water per person and per day. The way the residents of Cape Town are living is very similar to the "Okies". The okies had to limit the amount of food , water, and gas used because they could not have a job which meant barely money in their hands. When the Okies knew they found a job they knew how to save up.
