This book tells me about how different life was for the civilians during the Japanese occupation , many things changed, such as how time was being telled differently.
This is a oral source by Mdm Chu Shuen Choo who talked about how she lead a life as housewife, how and what she bought from the black market, such as tinned food, milk powder, condensed milk and flour. I chose this source as the interviewee described clearly how black markets worked, during tough times where people have to collect their families. It showed a great difference how they used to buy things cheaply before the war, and the noticeable high cost of essential items during the war.
This written source is about what do people grew for survival during the Japanese occupation. I chose this source because it showed what life was like during the Japanese occupation, how the intelligent Japanese solved the crisis of food shortage, and how tough life was before and during the Japanese occupation
