The Daintree Rainforest is situated in the north eastern stretch of Queensland and is said to be the oldest Rainforest in the world. However, this rainforest is under threat from a number of ways. Many parts of the rainforest are under threat from encroaching rural developments, this will cause widespread deforestation. This includes a loss of habitat for endemic species such as the cassowary. Rural development Through defrostation, more species from outside the rainforest roam and are introduced. This will increase the competition for endemic predators. This will effect the ecosystem greatly. Increased predation from alien species.
