One thing that is plastered throughout my room is posters and wall art of superheros, mostly Captain America. I love all superheros, Marvel and DC alike, but Captain America is my favorite. Something about his back story and how he remains so humble as a "kid from Brooklyn" even though he changes history and gives people hope never fails to amaze me. I am most excited this year for the new Justice League movie that comes out this fall.
I'm usually not a "trendy" person and I'm still not but when the flannel came back I jumped on the opportunity to wear an over-sized article of clothing that is comfy and I can put over any T-shirt. I used to have multiples but the main flannel I wear now is a green one with white and subtle blue stripes. I enjoy it due to the fact that in theatre I am always painting or getting sawdust all over me and the flannel is there to protect my nicer clothes. It has a few holes and some paint spots but I usually wear this thing at least three times a week.
During my Freshman and Sophomore year I used to love to paint my nails and try different designs and colors on my nails. Sadly this year I had to get a job and it so happened to be in the food industry. My boss told me I couldn't have long nails because they would cut through the gloves and I couldn't have nail polish because customers might complain.
Once a year in the fall my family and a couple friends go out to Stockton, set up a tent, and camp for a couple days. This is another hobby that keeps me relaxed and lets me get away from the city for a couple of days. My favorite thing to do is sit in a chair next to the campfire and just read a whole book throughout the day. One thing I love about camping in the fall is that it's always cold so sitting next to the fire never gets too hot.
I very much enjoy coloring and try to find time at least once a week to listen to musical soundtracks and color. It may seem like a little kid thing to do but for me it is very relaxing and with theatre, Lassies, and school work combined it can get stressful. So coloring helps me keep my cool lets my mind wander for a while on what colors I want to use next instead of what am I gonna do for the next three months.
My favorite subject besides Drama class is English, mostly just because teachers give me time to read. I don't have a specific genre that I'm in love with but I'm not super into Sci-Fi, although I will always try a book someone recommends to me and I love all books. Books allow me to get out of my head for a little while and get lost in a life that is not my own.
I absolutely love pens and stationary, anything to do with good and neat handwriting. All summer I have been working on my handwriting and trying to learn different styles, it's not really working that well but I will of course keep trying!
I love all animals but dogs are my favorite! I have two at the moment, Mabel and Sammy, and I love them both, Sammy is a German Shepard and Mabel is a Pointer mix. I hope to one day own a Great Dane again like my family did when I was a baby and name him or her Tiny.
I am involved in the Lassie Drum and Bugle Corps that we have here at Parkview. I am our Drum Captain and couldn't be more thankful to lead this group into another great year. We perform at all the assemblies and a number of parades in and outside of town, our most exciting one being the St. Patties Day Parade in St. Louis.
I am a theatre kid through and through and I can't imagine it any other way. As of right now Dear Evan Hansen (pictured above) is my favorite musical and I can't get enough of the soundtrack! I am very involved with the theatre department here at Parkview and will be head of props for our first production, Pippin, that we hope to take to state up in St. Louis this January.
