During Stalin's rule he was very focused on improving the country's economy he neglected the welfare of his people and their freedom. He used fear to make people listen to him.He killed millions of his own people and scared them into listening to him.He also did not allow any opposition or freedom. He was ruthless and cruel he killed people in inhumane ways and he did not value the lives of his people. He also did not improving the living conditions of people who were suffering. For example the women who were working and had to take care of thier children because of the condition of the childcare centre.
This picture is from a poster and it shows Stalin holding a little girl. This picture shows that Stalin is trying to make people think that he cares about them and their children.Stalin had full control of propaganda such as books, films and posters and made them portray him as the saviour of USSR. This is also clearly proven because of the childcare centres that he did not invest enough into maintaining.I chose this source as it shows that he is power hungry for power and that he is forcing himsef to be portrayed as a hero.
Stalin gained the support of his citizens by inducing fear and destroying opposition.Stalin killed millions so that people would not dare to go against him and would rather follow him.He also killed them in cruel ways such as fake trials and purges.I chose this source as it shows the cruelty of Stalin and that he did not value the lives of his people nor did he show any sympathy for them.
The video shows how Stalin induced fear into the people as his officials were always watching them and if they made the officials upset they could be arrested and made into slaves. This made people very scared of whatever they did.I chose this source as this is a primary source and it shows that people could not find peace during Stalin's rule.
This poster is calling women to join the shock brigade. This was one of Stalin's industrialization efforts. Women were expected to work and childcare centres were built to take care of their children. However, the childcare centres were not properly maintained and as a result women had to care for their children and work simultaneously which greatly increased their workload.I chose this source as it shows how stingy and selfish Stalin was as he made the women work while not properly maintaining the childcare centres.
The picture shows a woman frowning as well as a woman pulling out crops from the field and animal which has passed away which was so skinny that its rib bones were visible. The title of the newspaper article also reads 'Peasants' Crops Seized, They and Their Animals Starved'.These show that Stalin was a heartless and selfish leader.Instead of distributing the produce for the starving people and animals, he sold them overseas in order to improve industrial development.I chose this source as it shows how selfish and heartless Stalin as he starved his own people just for money
This picture appears to show 4 men confessing to committing crimes. However you can see a smile on their face. This highlights that this trial is not legitimate. Stalin tortured people into confessing for crimes they had not committed. This was so that he could kill them by law. This source shows that Stalin was so ruthless and feared that he made people choose that death was a better option for them.It also shows that he abuses his power to ensure he has no opposition.
