This is really similar to the other article, but I still liked it. I liked it however because it didn't necessarily deal with mental health. Memes like this are a result of the pressure that many millennial face. All of the pressure from school and parents cause so much stress for teens.
I relate to these posts like most of my generation. Mental health is a huge problems among teens, If I had to guess i would say roughly 40 percent of the memes I encounter are about depression and anxiety. This is another way teens use memes to cope.
This is a much more detailed approach to the topic. It is such a interesting idea to me. It works as a perfect example to my essay, but I haven't included it yet. I would really like to include some of these direct quotes into my book.
This is going to be basically my thesis. Memes are a major form of coping. In the end, we just don't want to feel alone- to know that we belong. In the current world, it is easy to think that you reactions are wrong or inappropriate. Relatable memes remind us that other people are just as shocked, angered, happy, sad, or confused as you are.
The entire point of the internet is to connect people. Humans, with their feelings and desire to find belonging, used the internet to find people with similar interests and values. Memes do this very efficiently. They are funny, quick, visual and lastly very comforting. They are comforting because they're relatable. We see ourselves reacting the same way someone from around the world reacts.
I throughly enjoyed reading this article. It not only talked about and featured FBI agent memes, it talked about why the meme took off. The obvious reason being that the government spies and invades the public privacy. Since we young, we were taught government is good while our whole lives, the government has done nothing but bad. This meme points to that - the lies about adulthood every child must deal with. However, it goes a step further because the FBI agent allows wants the best for the person they are watching. This reinforces the ideas taught to us from such a young age.
I feel very guilty for putting a school shooting meme in my evidence (I don't want to contribute to them). I could not however write this essay without mentioning it. These horrible, terrible tragedies have deep impact on all of us, like a school shooting for example. So why do people makes memes out of it? Quite frankly, because there is no right way to deal with a tragedy and memes are a non-violent outlet for frustration. I don't agree with the article but I will mention it in my essay as proof that this is a form of grieving.
I know, another piece on Dadaism. I noticed when I was re-reading my essay that I had a really difficult time explaining Dadaism. It didn't translate very well. I want people to understand the essence of this movement. I like the descriptions used for Dadaism in this article. I believe it will help with some wording and phrasing,
This is just a list of tips. We have talked about all of this tips before in your class. I want them all in one place. I will use this list to comb through my essay and make improvement and changes.
It explains what is art which I will use to argue that memes are art. Art essays are my favorite analytical essays to read. Some people find them boring therefore I will remedy by adding memes and collages. He used first person which was great. Also the thematic statement was a beautiful last paragraph.
