Dogs are getting more like us everyday. If you get the right breed of dog they can fish with you, hunt with you, and even bring back a animal if you have killed it. But thats not it, dogs can read your facial expressions. "They've picked up these people-like traits during their evolution from wolves to domesticated pets, which occurred between 11,000 and 16,000 years ago, experts say" (Wei-Haas). As i said, these dogs are really smart. So It probably won't take much to train them, but In the moments, they might make a few mistakes.
Dogs are really smart animals. You can train them to do things that not even some humans can do. Also, some dogs can help you around your house. For example, if your blind, this dog can help you around your house. Maybe you can even train them to hunt bombs. But they make training schools for dogs like that "In the shrouded world of bomb dog education, MSA is one of the elite academies" (Levine). But the dogs hunting for bombs would be a good ideal, dogs sense of smell is 40x better than us human.
New pet? Great idea, new food. Maybe a little confusion there in that general area. If you don't get the right food the animal may not eat it. Some animals are picky like that. On the other hand, some animals take whatever you give to them! Sadly, "Each year, 2.7 million adoptable dogs and cats in the United States, simply because too many pets come into shelters and too few people consider adoptable when looking for a pet." (Top reasons to adopt a pet). so as the population gets higher, the more food you would have to buy for the animals but thats not s bad thing. Its good because you know your animal will get the nutrients it needs.
The animal shelter is a sad, but happy place. Sometimes its good because you meet new friends there. Although, it can also be sad too. See, a trip to the right animal shelter can open your eyes to a unbelievable story of cruelty to the man's best friend. As the article says, "I am pretty sure the animals know why they are here, that this is there last stop." (Nale and Dexter). For some dogs, it is their last home/shelter. For others, i just guess that they are really lucky. Some dogs won't get picked because of how they look.
