Martin Luther King Jr. preached peace and wanted a peaceful protest. It is very hard to go through what MLK went through. He battled and put up with all the racist people. However, he stuck with it and persevered. Martin Luther King Jr. did the right thing even though it was hard.
Gandhi led a peaceful protest against England. Gandhi could have started a war that would have involved killing and fighting. Instead he took a harder road that wouldn't involve death and violence. He knew the right thing didn't involve the killing of his own people. He did the right thing and freed India from Britain.
Mandela went to prison for 27 years. He went to prison because he was protesting against the whites only government in South Africa. He served his time diligently. He kept working to end apartheid from his prison cell. The easy thing to do would have been to not care and just serve his sentence. However, he went to prison and kept leading his revolution against apartheid. He ended up becoming president of South Africa and ultimately, ended apartheid.
When I think of doing a hard thing; I think of Abraham Lincoln abolishing slavery. He knew people would hate him forever. He knew that slavery is not right, and he did everything he could to abolish it. He did the right thing in abolishing slavery even though it was a very hard thing to do.
People hated Lebron James. Lebron was the most hated man in Cleveland because he left. He left because it was right for him, and it was what he wanted to do. Lebron's jerseys were burned, and he was called quitter and loser. However, Lebron made the right decision in leaving because he wanted to win a championship. He knew there would be backlash and hate from the fans. The fans forgave Lebron once he returned to Cleveland years later. The fans did not hold a grudge. They easily could have hated him forever, but they embraced him.
In "A Separate Peace" Gene goes out of his way to help Finny. He does this because he feels it's the right thing to do after he pushes him out of the tree. Gene helped Finny to make himself feel better for hurting Finny. It is hard to help Finny because his leg is broken, and he can hardly walk. However, Gene knows it is the right thing to do. Gene helps Finny with the winter carnival. He trains for the Olympics even though they will never happen. He does so many things to help Finny be happy.
The Revolutionary War was a very hard war. It took a lot of courage for the colonies to break away from the British. However, it was the right thing to do. People lost their lives, and what they loved because they wanted to be free. They believed fighting was the right thing to do, so they did it even though it was hard.
Finny does the right thing in forgiving Gene for pushing him out of the tree. It was very hard for him to forgive Gene because he ended his athletic career. This was the right thing to do though because it put Gene and Finny’s minds at ease. The hardest thing you can do is forgive someone.
This picture is of two brothers. The brothers are working on homework. The one brother is helping the other brother. This relates back to my life because I have a brother. I go out of my way to help him, whether it be homework or sports. He also expects me to go out of my way to help him. I sometimes don't want to help my brother, but I do because it is the right thing to do.
The picture is of Rue from "The Hunger Games". I used this as an example because Katniss does the right thing in protecting Rue and helping her. It would have been easy for Katniss to kill Rue to better her chances of winning the Hunger Games. That was a difficult decision, but Katniss made it and did the right thing.
