Miranda Barnes is a Caribbean-American photographer and native New Yorker. She is currently attending John Jay College in New York City pursuing a BA in Humanities and Justice with a Minor in Art. Barnes grow up in Brooklyn but she went to high school in long Island. she always wanted to be on the right of history and be a champion of people right's. The photo series focuses in black females twins which represents challenges traditional representation of family and race in America. She found the need to challenge mistake of people of color in America, and particularly she like to highlight themes of friendship and sisterhood in black communities. She is always fascinated about the bond between twins, and she uses her family as part of it. And as she says'' I was never able to photograph my grandmother and my great aunt Jean together, this project is inspired by the few pictures we have of the two of them together and the feelings of love and sisterhood they imparted in me.
