This poem touches on the fact that many are being killed and their blood is being shed on the orders of a tyrant which demonstrates bureaucratic control where there are relentless and ruthless leaders who take the lives of innocent people of the society for their own good. This poem is also based on past and future religious events such as “the judgment day” which is yet to come and “the ancient prophecy” was in the past and is being reflected on now. This relates to Harrison Bergeron because the leaders in Harrison Bergeron handicapping individuals for the worse, so that everybody would be the same. In the same way, the people described in the poem were being killed because they didn’t have the same beliefs as the tyrants and the tyrants wanted everybody to think the same and be the same. This is important because this type of stuff still goes on today where many innocent citizens are being killed on the orders of the tyrant. The citizens are in constant fear that the tyrant may order for them to be killed and this causes them to live in a dehumanized state.
