I enjoy listening to music in my free time. I listen to R&B because the melody lets me relax, but I when I listen to hip-hop, I focus on the lyrics more. Zico's song "Artist" was a song that I genuinely enjoyed because of inspirational lyrics like "Life is what you make of it" and "If the world was to end tomorrow, you shouldn't be reluctant on the brink of happiness."
I'm an only child, which has some positive and some negative aspects. However, I love the fact that I can bond with my parents and always feel comforted by them no matter what happens. I have a lot of aunts, and our cousins and far members of our family are very intimate, and my cousins are like my siblings.
Debate is something that I've continued over more than 5 years. It formed parts of my identity and helped me become a better person. I learned how to speak in front of people confidently and to work with others.
Playing the trumpet is one on my hobbies. I know my sound isn't perfect, but I like the vibrant, high pitch of the trumpet that differentiates it from other brass instruments. This year, I went on the AMIS band trip and had a wonderful experience playing with people from all over Asia.
Things Fall Apart is a book that was influential in my life. Things fall apart is mainly about the fall of Okonkwo's world and his pride through European missionaries. While showing the process in which a village is colonized, it shows the emotional aspect of individuals who are part of the village and individuals who lead the village.
WSC was an amazing experience. Debating, writing, and taking quizzes were all very challenging on their own. However, simply cooperating with people from nations that I didn't even know the name of was both a challenge and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
This was a piece inspired by Sylvia Plath, my favorite poet. I combined the symbolism in her poem "Edge" and the figurative language in a poem that I wrote in the past. I submitted this in last year for the Poetry Cafe activity.
