I am a very big animal lover. I have four dogs and one cat and they're my favorite things to come home to. I love to take my dog Penny hiking and to the park, sometimes I take her on little trips to get breakfast or something just because she loves riding in my car. My family used to foster dogs for a rescue group until we ended up adopting the last dog we fostered, Albie. I honestly don't know how I'm going to function as an adult someday because I know I'll want to take home every animal I see.
I am an only child and I have it pretty good. I have never wanted siblings, really anytime I saw any of my friends interact with their siblings it just reaffirmed my opinion on the matter. I would consider myself mature for my age due to being an only child. And though I don't like admitting this I think I do have a bit of a hard time sharing. Overall though, I love being an only child and believe it makes up a lot of who I am as a person. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I am the youngest out of all my friends with the exception of like, three. And I find this article very relatable, I am considered the "baby" of the group, but that doesn't really bother me. The fact that they don't go to Parkview anymore bothers though. I'm kind of nervous for this year because all of my close friends graduated last year and moved to college. It's weird to think they're all three or four hours away now. I'm looking forward to the holidays when they'll all be back in town for a while.
There are not a lot of things to do in Springfield, MO. So one thing I like to do with my friends is just drive around town and see where the night takes us. The problem is I'm not a very good driver. I failed my driver's test three times before I passed. It literally took me a two months to get my license. So it's very rare for me to be the one driving. Nevertheless, I still love to drive and spend time with my friends, so driving around aimlessly with no purpose is how I tend to occupy probably too much of my time.
I love to binge-watch shows when I don't have any plans for the weekend. My favorite shows are The Office, Game of Thrones, The Handmaid's Tale, Stranger Things, Shameless, and Rick and Morty. My favorite time to sit around and watch TV is when the weather is bad. I consider myself a pretty outdoorsy person so I don't watch TV that much. But when I do, it's excessive.
Reading is one of my favorite things to. I tend to read more when I'm stressed or in a bad mood, it helps me forget about whatever is bothering me for a while. My top five favorite books are Looking for Alaska, The Pact, Nineteen Minutes, Winger, and Gone Girl. My favorite author is Jodi Picoult because I really like her writing style and her way of constructing stories. I honestly wish I had more time to read.
Hammocking is one of my favorite things to do when I have free time. I love going with friends because we get to go explore and sometimes we'll bring our dogs which is always great. If I'm by myself I'll usually bring a book and headphones and hang out for a few hours. One thing I really like about hammocking is it is always an adventure, even if you are just relaxing. One time for example, I went hammocking with my friend at The Nature Center and we saw a deer, which was the coolest thing ever. I highly recommend.
Last year I started playing soccer for the first time in my life, and if I'm being honest I still don't exactly know how to play. My friend convinced me to do it and I don't regret it whatsoever. I play center mid, which from I'm still guessing is running back and forth and kicking the ball to someone else on your team if it comes near you. I can't wait for season to start again because there are some really great girls on the team and it is one of the funnest sports I have ever played. Even though I have no idea what is going on half the time.
I've been playing volleyball since I was twelve and it's my favorite sport. I play varsity middle front and right side. My favorite part of volleyball is when you get an ace (a serve that the other team can't get up) or tournaments where you get to play all day and just hangout with your team. I'm really looking forward to this season, I feel like we have good chemistry that will be seen on the court. One thing I'm not looking forward to is conditioning, sometimes I feel like we run more than we play. Overall though, I have a feeling this is going to be a good season.
I'm a lifeguard for the Greene County Park Board and I absolutely love it. I have worked there for about a year and have been stationed at several pools. My favorite pool is Grant Beach because it's never boring, we have to call a Park Ranger about everyday and the police at least once a week. I know that doesn't exactly sound pleasant but it definitely beats watching old people do water aerobics. I think the reason I like my job so much is because I consider myself a caretaker and I feel fulfilled by helping others.
