This article shows how two palm trees in Australia turned out completely different. They shared the same location but due to different climates they looked different. This had to do with the process of natural selection where a organisms genetic code changes and the organisms that have the proper mutation to survive, are more likely to survive.
This video, from PBS, shows us how humans are effecting the evolution of bacteria. When humans use antibiotics they kill off all the weak bacteria leaving the strong or the immune to survive. It shows how we need the understanding of evolution for human survival against deadly diseases.
When you go to the zoo and see a monkey or ape you might think that you two are very different. However that ape or monkey is actually related to you, and is you ancestral cousin. "How?" you ask. Well, this happened due to a wild climate change about 200,000 years ago. This caused the first human to evolve in Africa. The first homo sapiens looked very different compared to the present homo sapiens. They were more hairy and were shorter unlike us. It's crazy how when we look at apes those are actually our cousins. Weird right!?
This article, from the university of California Berkeley, represents how Whales have evolved from 55 million years ago as separate from other mammal, most of which have 4 legs and feet. The diagram shows how Whales evolved from a smaller four legged creature, before becoming a huge water swimming Whale. The diagram shows how the Whale started off as a small mammal called the Indohyus. It shows how many creatures were made when the Indohyus evolved into two groups. One became what we know today as the Hippo, and the other transformed over time and became many sea creatures before becoming a Whale.
