FAMOUS PEOPLE OF EGYPT

Ancient Egypt had a lot of famous people, which varied from kings to queens to even scribes. Some of those famous people included King Tut, Cleopatra, and Ramses the II. They all had something famous that was remembered about them as they were the center of Ancient Egypt.

King Tut

King Tut

King Tut got portrayed as a weak leader due to his medical problems. He rose to power at the age of nine due to his father’s corrupt leadership. Throughout King Tut’s rule, he worked to restore many artifacts, temples, shrines, and other sacred objects that got destroyed before him that were never fixed, but he wasn't that well known for his rule. The most significant reason why King Tut was known though was his death, which was because of a long-lasting bone/leg infection problem that got worse due to Tut catching Malaria. His importance was so insignificant that he was forgotten until the 1920s when Howard Carter found his tomb in the Valley of the Kings, which contained many jewels, gold, and a pretty coffin. This article from Britannica Encyclopedia Online is a secondary source that provided me with reliable information.

Cleopatra

Cleopatra

Cleopatra was an influential woman figure that ruled Egypt around 50 B.C.E. She had ties with Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, and other famous world leaders. She was also a ruler who identified herself as the goddess. Even though Cleopatra was one of the seven women leaders of Egypt and was very influential, she also had a dark side. She killed her brother and Mark Antony, which were very close to her. It just goes to show that some of the most influential leaders also have a dark side. This secondary source article provided me with a very solid information/understanding of Cleopatra.

Ramses II

Britannica ImageQuest allowed me to find a primary source like fine art on a temple wall about Ramses II. The fine art provided me with a lot of information about Ramses II as he was an influential man that inspired Egyptian people that he was a strong and brave warrior and leader. Britannica Image Quest’s primary source artwork of Ramses II sitting at Grand Temple at Abu Simbel today, shows him smiting his enemies. It depicted he was a ruthless warrior when it came to fighting for his country against the enemies that lie beyond the Egyptian soil.
