This quote is significant because Arnold is a native american boy being bullied on the reservation by his own. He then moved to Reardan high, an all white school. He was an outsider to them. This quote shows that he opened up to his community together. Arnold went to a school and earned everybody's respect for simply being himself.
Most people want to help others , but most don't. Others believe it is wrong and bad to help others. if you see someone with a sign at a corner most people just ignore and keep going. Churches are the main people that actually make a catastrophe a big deal. Churches don't switch up stories they are straight forward all of the time. This connects to my book because Native Americans are straight forward also and they treat everyone as family. Like churches do with their society.
Fox news anchor Gretchen Carlson filed suit for sexual harassment against the networks boss, Roger Ailes. "The public expressed disbelief and rebuttals that she was fabricating her story in retaliation for being fired." A man asked " If it was so bad why didn't she comes forward earlier?" As a trauma psychologist, I know her behavior was consistent with many women who experience various forms of sexual assault. Many women don't tell anyone for a long time." This article made me think that all people do not believe when a female comes out with truth. A lot of people do not take a women's word seriously. This connects to my story because Arnold's sister died, and everyone at Reardan acted like they all cared about him all of a sudden. People come together after such a huge tragedy.
This article is about a family in Manhattan. There two children were murdered by their caretaker. A quote from the author, " My mind, and heart, kept being pulled tot he questions, how can parents possible endure something like that the only way a community will come together is if suck a tragedy happens because people need to know that everything is alright.
This story is about a mother and her 3 children being rear-ended by a careless driver that fell asleep behind the wheel. Reports named this story, " Three Children instantly killed in the collision." The tragic accident was something no parent should every have to go through. Reporters say, " I'm a good person, how could this happen Tom?" My thoughts of this article is why would reporters use that kind of title. I think the way reporters word stories, add irrelevant words to move us overthink certain stuff. A quote from the author is, " We live in a world filled with catastrophes."
