This video helped me learn and understand what a watershed is, what parts of a watershed are, and what can change a watershed. A watershed is all the land that drains water into a body of water.
I learned that the Flint water crisis was caused by lead pipes. The water leached lead from the lead pipes. The people in Flint Michigan neglected to put corrosion inhibitors in the water to prevent the water from leaching the lead from the pipes. The water was then unable to be consumed and unable to be used to clean.
What we learned in the hydrology unit is connected to the flint Michigan crisis because the lead poisoning was caused by lead pipes, lead pipes probably also affect watersheds as well.
The people in Flint Michigan decided to change its water source to the flint river. The problem with this is that they did not apply corrosion inhibitors. This caused the water to leach the lead from the pipes.
