He was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist, who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. Mandela was born to the Thembu royal family in Mvezo, British South Africa. Mandela served 27 years in prison.He studied law at the University of Fort Hare and the University of the Witwatersrand before working as a lawyer in Johannesburg.

At the age of thirty-five, Martin Luther King, Jr., was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize.
Gandhi was an Indian that helped with Indian independence from Britain. He was born October 2 1869. Gandhi left India and went to South Africa. After he became a layer he went back home. After his return to India in 1915, he set about organizing peasants, farmers, and urban laborers to protest against excessive land-tax and discrimination.
