Nelson Mandela was a protestor who fought against the white people who controlled South Africa. He started with peaceful protest when he turned to violent protests. He ended up in jail and he became the poster child for freedom in South Africa. He was in jail for 27 years. Then he became the first African American president in South Africa. Also the first prisoner to become a president.
MLK was an African American who grew up during the time of segregation in the U.S.. MLK fought against segregation and racism with peaceful protests. MLK was heavily influenced by Gandhi and that is why he did peaceful protest. He learned from Gandhi that peaceful protests work better than violent protests. So he spoke to the people and told them all to get arrested to turn jails into "Safe Havens".
Gandhi was a man who grew up in India when it was controlled by the British. Gandhi made it his life mission to free India! Gandhi was the first person to use civil disobedience and protest peacefully to get his way. In the end he got his way by using the power of peace.
