Nelson Mandela became the first black president of South Africa in 1994, serving until 1999. A symbol of global peacemaking, he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. His views were a lot like Gandhi's, because they both wanted equal rights. Also; both protested non-violently. In the both were very great leaders.
Gandhi was a non-violent protester that protested equal rights. He was born in India and died when he was 78. He spent years in jail for protesting even though it was non-violent. He didn’t mind jail, because he felt as if the jails could be the change. He said if we fill the jails with hope we will change them.
