Nelson Mandela became the first black president of South Africa in 1994, serving until 1999. A symbol of global peacemaking, he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. He was also a big civil rights activist but he thought jail was the only way for Africans rights could change. If it weren't for Nelson Mandela then there wouldn't be a government in South Africa. He was a lot like Gandhi because he was peaceful.
A lot of the ways Gandhi thought so did MLK Jr. In this video MLK Jr. tells us how Gandhi influenced him into protesting PEACEFULLY. He learned that civil-disobedience is the best way. He also enjoyed jail because it was peaceful just like Gandhi enjoyed it. A lot of the ways Gandhi thought so did MLK Jr. He also agreed to how Gandhi dealt with problems, but he said if violence was the only way he'd use violence but there is more than one way to deal with that.
Gandhi is considered the father of India's independence movement. He started what is called civil-disobedience. He is probably the most known man to live, other than Jesus. He helped them escape British control and become a free country.
