In 1920, Adolf Hitler, authorized the formation of a Youth League of the National Socialist Workers' Party (NSDAP) based upon the principles of an earlier German youth group known as as the Wandervögel. The Wandervögel (translated as "Migratory Bird") were the German equivalent of the Boy Scouts of America and the World Organization of the Scout Movement.
The German Youth Groups made kids join, and hail Hitler. The kids were forced into the military, but they didn't think it was too bad. Boys and girls had separate wings, and schooling. They also trained differently.
The League of German Girls or (cognate) Band of German Maidens (German: Bund Deutscher Mädel, abbreviated BDM) was the girls' wing of the Nazi Party youth movement, the Hitler Youth.
