While some people pass of school as something they have to do, I have always found that school is very important, and something that I want to do well. I know that school is required because it will shape who you are as a person. Also, though school, you meet friends you will have for the rest of your life, and discover things in yourself that will make you the person you need to be.
I did Taekwondo for the best part of eight years, and eventually got my Third Dan black belt, a feat that very few people achieve. Throughout my time in Taekwondo, I learned so much, and not just techniques for self defense. While other boys were doing flag football, or baseball, I was in a studio practicing. In this time, I learned close to 30 forms, the history of Taekwondo, how to count in Korean, and found many friends while doing so.
As I entered high school, I decided to try something new: marching band. Even though I had played the trombone for several years, this has proven to be a very fun and interesting twist! Through sun and rain, our band has practiced hard, and our 'Bamily' has grown closer and closer.
At first, I started running cross country to be with friends in 8th grade. As the season progressed, I began to realize how good I felt while running, and how amazing it was to be a pert of the team. Since that, I have began to run weekly, and am doing cross country for Thunderridge, as well as simply running for the fun of it.
As I enter my fourth year in Scouting, I have quickly realized how much of a role this has played in my life. I am well on my way to Eagle scout, and though scouting, I have found my love of the outdoors and nature. Nothing says fun like hiking for 90 miles with a 50 pound pack!
No matter what, I know that I will always have my family to lean on. In my darkest of times, they will be there, and when everything is great, I will have them to lean on. I know that the people who I have known and loved for all of my life will be there no matter what.
Not only do friendships help me have fun no matter what, they are very beneficial. It is well known that the people who you surround yourself with influence who you are, and they will also influence your health! Friends give me people to trust, as well as people to laugh and have fun with.
