Target is my favorite place to shop, even though I can go in for a couple of items and leave with a full cart! In fact, I got distracted by the website when I just searched it up and had a cart of items within 15 minutes... I love Target for their products, but I love them even more for their policies and inclusive practices. When you shop in the kids clothing department, they have Space and Dinosaurs in the girls section and cuddly animals in the boys section. When you look at the models, they are using kids with disabilities and they have a section for "sensory friendly clothing". These moves may seem small, but they make a HUGE difference with the message they are sending.
As a child, I loved everything Disney. I watched every VHS movie I could get my hands on. The first movie I ever saw in a theater was Little Mermaid (which scared me...). Even as an adult, I love Disney. It's honestly magical in so many ways. This summer, we took Riley to Disney for the first time. We were only able to fit Magic Kingdom into our trip, but it was a different kind of magic as I watched her enjoyment at every little detail. She met her favorite characters, rode so many rides, and added some pages in her autograph book. Although it was hot and a bit stressful, we made amazing memories.
Wolves are my all time favorite animal, but when you need something to make you smile, you go with an otter or a sloth. You just can't ignore how adorable that fuzzy little face is! Plus, wordplay with otter/other/utter makes for hilarious memes. Riley loves to look at videos of otters playing ever since she saw Finding Dory last summer. If I ever see a book, stuffed animal, or video that has an otter, she's the first person I think of.
Goodreads is my virtual TBR shelf! As a reader, finding book apps that actually make sense can be difficult. The app saves me so much time when I'm hunting for my next book purchase or borrow. I can also keep up with what I've read and rate those books, which I am trying to do more. Even though I've used goodreads for years, I've only used as sort of a book bulletin board. The reading and rating is nice, and it helps me to see what my friends are reading!
I'm a huge country fan (big surprise, I know) and go to several concerts every summer. What I love about country concerts is the camaraderie that seems to spill out of the venue. Everyone is singing along, dancing in groups, and just having a genuinely good time. Florida Georgia Line is a show that I've been to a few times with some of my closest friends. Next show: Thomas Rhett!
Oh wolfpack--I bleed red and white for you. Even though our seasons have been pretty up and down since the days of Phillip Rivers and Russell Wilson, I will always be here for you. We have some promising players this season, so fingers crossed!
This is my go-to for all things movie related. Can't remember who played that one role? IMDb for the win! Want a great quote from your favorite movie? IMDb for the win! Need to prove someone else wrong in movie trivia? IMDb for the win! Want to find out about a movie that is being released soon or in the future? IMDb for the win! See where I'm going here? IMDb for the win! I use it for all of the previously mentioned questions as well as many other necessary reasons. For a movie lover, here is no other site/app that compares.
I'm going to get real...mom life is tiring in the summer! I try to stay really busy with the kids so that they are still getting socialization and just enjoying their time with me. The Dulles Moms site is so helpful with all that this entails. I am able to find daily events, current deals, and get ideas that I may not have had on my own. Anything that saves me time is ultra important.
The Outer Banks has always been my home away from home. Growing up just a short drive away made it a literal playground for my friends and me. In high school, we could throw our stuff in someone's hand me down car on a Saturday morning, spend the day splashing in the ocean, and be home in time for dinner with a tan. These trips were the ones that I still treasure. Now, I'm making new OBX memories with my little family. I love that Riley and Luke are able to share in something that was such an important part of my childhood.
Of course I had to include Brambleton! We wouldn't even be creating this project together right now if it wasn't for BAM. Leaving Trailside to come over here was a really difficult decision for me as I loved going to work and spending the day with all of my friends. It's okay though, because I'll make new friends and my students all seem pretty good so far ;)
