Maya Angelou uncovers her secret. In her poem she explores what "it" is that she's got. She confuses both men and women, "Men themselves have wondered, what they see in me." and "I’m a woman, phenomenally." shows that perhaps it's simply the fact that she's a woman. But the lines "Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. " suggest it's something more. Perhaps it's her womanly graces, her quietness and how she holds her head up. Whatever it is it shows yet another side of Black Womanhood, one that defies stereotypes and shows self love.
