During a listening session with school shooting victims' families and friends, President Trump agreed with a participant's contention that faculty should be properly trained and armed if they choose. Trump also noted that a strong background check must be conducted. Trump stated that gun violence protection is only productive when the staff and teacher are fully trained. The majority of this article's information came from quotes from President Trump and what he had to say about the recent Florida shooting. It was biased towards his opinion and views on the topic. The topic of gun control and gun violence has been a huge discussion in our media and everyday lives due to the recent events. It had made to to the level where President Trump has taken initiative to offer his opinion on how to best solve the issue we are dealing with. The legislative branch needs to do something with their prior law to make it more effective in our society today. We, as a country, are experiencing event that are new to us, yet are reoccurring far to often. Something needs to be done. Something needs to be changed.
One reaction to the Florida school shooting is the shaming of supporters of gun rights, but there is a better approach. This article focuses on the respect we need to have each other, whether we agree or not, during the mourning of the latest tragedy. The article strongly pointed out that guns have become a cultural flash point and has left the nation divided. It gave both points view by stating that people need to show respect to gun owners and supporters, while they give support to those who believe stricter gun control is the best way to continue protecting our country. Once again, the Legislative Branch has been dealing with so much debate and our country continue to have tragedies such has the recent Florida high school shooting. They need to begin to revise and possibly change their previous laws to meet the current events and needs of today.
Opposing the prior article, I decided to do read an article with the Democratic views on gun control and their push for stricter, new gun control laws. After recent shootings in Las Vegas, Texas, and Florida, the Democratic party has decided a change needs to happen with our existing laws. Democrats call for stricter gun control reforms while Republicans call such effort an infringement on the Second Amendment. House Republicans voted to rescind an Obama administration rule that heightened scrutiny of mentally impaired people who seek to purchase firearms. Critics said this would strip law- abiding citizens of their constitutional rights. This article opposed the last article. It was mainly written from a Democratic standpoint and used Democrats quotes as their information and arguments. This article viewed the same process of the Legislative Branch as the last one. It viewed a point in the debate where a change needed or wants to. e made in a bill. The Democrats fight for some change to be made in an already existing law.
Republicans in Congress have made it clear that they do not consider the Las Vegas shooting to be a reason or changing exsistinf gun laws. Senator Ted Cruz believes the Las Vegas shooting should be a cause to enforce more vigorous gun control, but it is not an excuse for Demócrata to be able to take away Second Amendment rights from law abiding citizens. When an Islamic terrorists shoots up a school, we are told to not place a stereotype on all Islamic people. Therefore we should do the same for gun owners. This article has been written with a Republican viewpoint and solely uses quotes from Republican Senators and Congressmen. This article demonstrates a point where the Legislative branch must work to look at opposing viewpoints and see the changes that may need to be made in a prior existing bill. The Republican and Democratic parties want change in different ways and theLegislative branch must make decisions on what they believe is best for their country.
