Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, Melissa McCarthy and Sheryl Crow are telling US nationals to reject people saying to lessen gun safety laws. This is reflecting what happened in Las Vegas and the many lives that were lost because of it. They have all spoken out in a video telling people about how they can protest against the National Rifle Association. Moore tells people to text “R-E-J-E-C-T to 644-33”, to further protest agianst it. The campaign is being sent across social media with the hashtag #RejectTheNRA.
The Las Vegas massacre was the worst mass shooting in the history of the U.S. Stephen Paddock killed at least 58 people at the concert at Vegas. “This must stop. America is the only place where horrific mass shootings happen with this degree of regularity. We are, yet again, facing the aftershock of the deadliest shooting in modern American history,” a quote from murphy. The shooting in Las Vegas is looked upon as a horror. Chris Murphy says that its time for congress to do something about this.
Democratic attorneys are telling Congress to take away legislation that allows conceal carry permits for one state to be accepted in every state. New York, Pennsylvania, Iowa and California are the top prosecutors for this act. The Concealed Carry Reciprocity has more than 200 co-sponsors. 61 percent of Americans gun laws should be stricter, 27 percent wants it to stay the same and 11 percent want it less strict. Most of the people that want the gun laws to be more strict are democrats and most of the people that either want the gun laws to stay the same or be less strict are republicans. This shows how the country is dived on what should happen with gun rights in the United States.
President Obama will take actions on guns for tighter firearms restrictions. Obama will meet Monday with Loretta E. Lynch to finalize the new gun control laws. This new law will require unlicensed gun dealers to be required to have a license and make people get background checks before buying guns. After the Roseburg shooting Obama proposed this because of that incident. Most Republican presidential candidates respond to Obamas decision right away they are expected to in coming days.
Donald Trump says he supports the Second Amendment and gun rights shouldn't be taken away. Trump wants military members to be able to carry firearms with conceal carry permits. He makes the connection of how drivers license works in every state and the same should be for conceal carry permits. Trump opposes all restiction on gun types that people can own. “Law-abiding people should be allowed to own the firearm of their choice." This quote from Trump shows that everyone that obeys the laws should be able to own guns. Some people think that Trump is saying that just anyone can own guns, but he clearly says law abiding people.
Gun control is any sort restrictions on firearms that could be who can have them or sell them, where they can be carried. In past years gun control has been mostly about background checks for buyers. For people that are immagrants, have mental illness, have criminal records are restricted by federal law to own a gun. Most gun control is in New York, California, New Jersey, Hawaii, and Illinois.In big cities police are more likely to support gun control, and in small towns they are more likely to disagree with it. Most of the people that agree with gun control laws are Democrats and most of the ones that support it are Republicans.the N.R.A.’s executive vice president, says that school employees should have been armed, because “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.” Opponents of gun control usually talk about President Obama wanting to take guns away from unresponsible owners and even though hes never proposed it lots of people believe it still.
