During the Harlem Renaissance, blacks were not fully integrated with whites because of segregation. For example, blacks could not go to popular white clubs unless they were famous jazz singers or players. Although, jazz music brought the two races together.
The Harlem Renaissance was an major historical movement because if brought on the integration and understanding of African Americans. Research shows that African American art, literature, and culture started to become more and more appreciated in society. Whites became more familiar and understanding of black history as well. It was a cultural celebration.
The Harlem Renaissance has impacted today's American society through its music, art, and and writers that rose up during this time. With the bold new individuals that came out during this time it has gave us a new perspective of writers and music. For example jazz from the Harlem Renaissance can still be heard in today's society.
Within the Harlem Renaissance many instances of music, art, and literature gave way to a new generation and change in society. Through great influences such as Langston Hughes, he brought forth new opportunity amongst the black community. With other artists such as Louis Armstrong, brought common ground between the whites and blacks as they were able to tap their feet to the same music. I learned that through the Harlem Renaissance, man of all colors and ethnic group came to find happiness amongst each other.
